Meet the Staff
Ally Vile, CPRP
Director, EPR
Ally is a true former "Parks & Rec kid". She grew up in recreation as a camper to a counselor, coach, and camp director. Everything aligned when the opportunity at Essex Parks & Recreation came up 15 years ago. Ally joined the department as the Program Coordinator then became the Director after 7 years in the programmer role.
She loves making connections with the community and being active in making it why people love living here. Some of her favorite projects have been playground facility renovations and assisting in the development and coaching of our youth field hockey program.
Ally was the recipient of the Vermont Park & Recreation Association (VRPA) Young Professional Award in 2013 and currently serves as the President of the VRPA board (2020-2022).
Adriane Martin, CPRP
Program Director- Community Recreation
Adriane has held roles in Parks and Recreation since she was old enough to work. She started out as a CIT, camp counselor, and ultimately her time as a competitive swimmer and love for water led her to become a lifeguard. She was a lifeguard and swim lesson instructor for over 10 years at a variety of facilities, including a pond at a 10-acre park in her hometown in MA, as well as at the University of Vermont. While at UVM she worked at Campus Recreation as a lifeguard, swim lesson instructor, birthday party host, and Aquatics leader for their summer camp.
She likes being part of an organization that plays an important role in the lives of many in our community. Adriane enjoys working collaboratively with her colleagues to come up with creative and fun activities for people of all ages. She especially likes creating lasting relationships with community members.
A fun fact about Adriane is that she has worked in Essex for the entirety of her professional career. She came to Essex Parks & Recreation in 2015 after six years at Essex CHIPS & Teen Center as the Director of Programming and previously as an AmeriCorps State member.
Nicole Mone-St.Marthe
Program Director- Senior Services
As a native of Essex, Nicole benefitted from growing up in this community and enjoys being able to give back to it. She spent 13 years in the field of teaching which led to roles in administration in education and the healthcare field. Her favorite part of her job is meeting new people and being able to help and make a positive impact on others to improve their quality of life.
Nicole enjoys baking, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Some fun facts about Nicole include that one of her first jobs was as an attendant at Sand Hill Pool, and she works alongside her father, Nick Mone, who drives for the senior vans.
Jenn Merritt
Business Coordinator
Jenn is a native Vermonter and grew up in what is now a 110 year old family owned and operated dry-cleaning business in St. Albans. This allowed her to fully understand the value of a strong community at a young age. She has a BA In business administration and marketing from Champlain College She has been involved with recreation programs her entire life. As a youth, she was heavily involved in soccer, swimming, and ski programs. Once old enough, she became a swimming instructor & supervisor as well as a ski instructor/supervisor for Smugglers Notch. She has played competitive soccer throughout college and spent the past nine years coaching for the Fletcher/Fairfax soccer club. During the winter months her weekends are spent at the Smugglers Notch ski club where her daughter races. They also own/operate a maple sugaring operation where they take pride in Vermont tradition every spring.
Some fun facts about Jenn is that she is an outdoor enthusiast, and loves time spent skiing, hiking, and biking, as well as a mom to a very competitive athletic daughter.
Ken Booker
Parks Maintenance Foreman
Kenny's favorite part of his job is working outdoors! He has been with Essex Parks & Recreation for over twenty-five years.
Some fun facts about Kenny include that he also assists Public Works with snow plowing in the winter, and he has four daughters, one of which worked alongside him in the parks and now works for the Town Clerk's office.
Dave Foster
Parks Maintenance Technician
Dave joined the Essex Parks & Recreation team as a part-time employee in 2016 before transitioning to a full-time position within a few years. Prior to this he worked for a landscaping company years ago and loved working outside. He really enjoyed working around the public and enjoys making our parks look the best they can possibly!
A fun fact about Dave is that he is the force behind the maintenance and care of the rink at Sand Hill Park. His favorite hobbies are golfing and wake surfing on his boat.
